At night, the main market is an outdoor restaurant waited a couple of dozens of street vendors who set up tables and do their business. Some of the best food on Koh Phangan can be found after the sun goes down. Thongsala also hoststhe main ferry terminal for the island and forms a natural gateway to the continent.
Leave Thongsala behind and head further north you notice a drastic change in the speed of life, things are quiet here, only homes built with occasional small rural villages with local shops. The villages Wok Tum and Hing Kong are particularly lazy, both wonderful places for someone looking for a long stay on the island.
Further up the coast road are Haad Yaoand Haad Salad, both excellent dive sites with a reef in close easy access to dive into the sea, further north still find Mae Haad and the small island of Koh But is right on the beach of Koh Phangan Wade. This has seen the premier snorkeling spots on the island, with sites in general only by divers.
Up on the northern tip of Koh Phangan related Chaloklam, a squid fishing village with a beautiful crescent beach. The sea here is exceptional,taken directly from the sea every morning. At night, watching the lights, dozens of squid boats that ply the waters in this area, and then see them return with their catch and dry in the sun while eating breakfast in a restaurant on the beach.
Over on the west side of the 'island, see Tong Nai Pan, originally a solo backpacker community is now home of the largest developments on Koh Phangan. Luxury Resorts provide the sun, which agreed that the WesternIt is the most beautiful beach on the island.
